History

History records every curve you successfully commit. Use it to reapply a curve you used earlier, without having saved it as a recipe.

In the Recipes tab, press History. The History drawer opens under the recipe list; press History again to close it. Whether it is open is remembered.

Each tile shows the curve, its label and when it was last used (Today 14:32, Yesterday 09:10, 28 Sep). Hover a tile for its shape, use count, and first and last use.

  1. Click an entry. The graph shows its curve as a preview; the status line reads Previewing history: <label>; Restore to load. Nothing is loaded yet.
  2. Press Restore (or double-click the entry) to load the curve into Ease for editing or committing. This is one local undo step; the scene is untouched.

Restored entries always open as an Ease curve: History stores the final committed curve, including the result of any effects, not the generator parameters or the Motion Stack. To keep parameters and layers editable, save a recipe instead.

  • When: after every commit that Houdini accepted and that passed verification. Failed or rolled-back commits are not recorded.
  • What: the curve that was written. Committing an identical curve again updates the existing entry (its last use and use count) instead of adding a new one.
  • Label: the shape name (for example Bounce) or, for Ease, where the curve came from: Selected keys, Sine S-Curve, Converted Bounce, or the recipe or history entry it was loaded from.
Control What it does
Sort menu Recent (default), Most Used or Name.
Restore Loads the selected entry into Ease.
Delete Removes the selected entry.
Clear Removes every entry, after confirmation.

History keeps up to 200 entries and drops entries not used for 90 days. It is stored per Houdini version, in history.json in the data folder. A failed history save never fails the commit; the status line shows a note.
